Home access has significant benefits for both students and staff. For the students is has proven educational benefits, one of the main ones being the increased levels of collaboration amongst the students, due to their ability to work on projects and homework outside of school hours. Likewise the opportunity for staff and teachers to have access to the ICT network, from any computer with internet access, means that they are no longer tied to being at school for things such as lesson planning or grading.
Home access is also part of central government’s plan to enable schools throughout England to be able to provide all pupils aged between 11 and 18 with access to their school’s ICT from home.
