ApplicationServer Version 6 |

This month, 2X
Software announced the release of
ApplicationServer 6, the latest edition of
its increasingly popular application
delivery software that has been referred to
as a "Citrix alternative at a fraction of
the cost".
ApplicationServer allows for the seamless
publication and management of any Windows
application to remote Windows, Mac OS or
Linux desktops. Applications need only
be installed once on the Microsoft Terminal
Server, eliminating the administration
hassle of deploying it on every workstation.
It transmits screen updates rather than the
thin client server data, allowing remote
access virtually anywhere.
Version 6 sees the following new features:
Web Application Portal, Multiple Monitor
Support, Application Limit and CPU Load
Balancing, Single Sign-on and Multiple
Farms.

HP adds to its leading Thin Client range |
HP extends its leading
thin client portfolio this month to include
the following units:
The T5730 builds on HPs tried and tested
technology and comes with a powerful 1GHz
AMD Sempron processor, Windows XPe and a 1GB
Flash and a choice of 512MB of 1GB DDR2 RAM
more!
The T5735 offers the same benefits as the
1GB/512MB T5730, but comes with Linux OS
more!
April will also see the release of HP's
eagerly awaited 6720t thin client laptop,
featuring a 1GB Intel processor with 1GB
Flash and 1GB RAM memory. Portable computing
with all the benefits of thin client.

Citrix Re-brands PresentationServer |
I'm sure many readers
will be aware that this
month, Citrix
changed the name of its superb PresentationServer to XenApp, following its
acquisition last year of virtualisation
innovator, XenSource.
However, this is not to be confused as a new
product release. It is merely a name
change and exactly the same product, ie:
PresentationServer 4.5. Future
releases will continue the XenApp name and
see the incorporation of more of the
technology acquired from XenSource.
