News June 2015: Rory Kiernan Success in Microsoft Apprentice Awards
At the 5th Anniversary of the Microsoft IT Apprentice of the Year Awards, Rory Kiernan from Derbyshire based Axess Systems was named as Runner-up.
He was presented his award by Michel Van der Bel, Managing Director of Microsoft UK.
Rory, 20 was competing in this highly prestigious award scheme, which recognises young talent throughout the UK, after he successfully completed his Apprenticeship in 2014.
To achieve this success Rory had to demonstrate how he used his Apprenticeship to learn new skills, which improved himself, and the company.
The Apprenticeship was delivered in conjunction with training provider Remit IT. As part of the training programme, Rory would attend week long courses in London to study for his NVQ.
Rory felt this unique approach to his training was a key aspect in his success. “By having time away from home, it challenges you and makes you understand far more of how the business world works. And I’ve brought this understanding back with me, and applied it to my work at Axess Systems.” Rory commented.
Ed Morton, Managing Director of Axess Systems, said: “I’m really proud of Rory and what he’s achieved. He’s done very well here at Axess Systems from the very first moment he joined us. And this recognition is absolutley deserved.”
“We’re really keen on finding and nurturing young talent. We look for hard working, and talented people who haven’t necessarily found the usual educational system to be right for them.”
“Rory has proven how a can-do attitude, a professional manner, combined with a sense of fun can reap rewards.”
Rory will be shortly joining the Enterprise Account Team at Axess Systems. This team works closely with IT Leaders and helps deliver cloud based IT Systems, which deliver improved profitability by creating competitive advantage, and operational efficiencies. Whilst at the same time reducing risk, and ensuring compliance.
This award follows on a string of successes from 2014 when Axess Systems was named Runner-up in the Storage, Virtualisation, Cloud (SVC) Awards.
