Summary: When Ed Morton first began Axess Systems in November 2000, his idea was simple. To create a specialist IT services company, which ditched the jargon, and instead focused on delivering tangible benefits, providing value, aligned to outstanding customer service.

Nearly 20 years later, as we have grown, these founding principles are as true today, as they were back then.

Axess Systems is an award-winning IT company which specialises in providing IT leaders with services for virtualisation and Digital Infrastructure. With its head office in the Midlands and a regional office in Southampton, Axess Systems delivers these services to IT leaders throughout the UK.

Axess Systems works across a diverse range of sectors and serves the aerospace, automotive, building and construction, charity, transportation, professional services, retail, banking and finance, engineering, housing associations, emergency services, education and local government.

In addition to providing IT consultancy and support services, Axess Systems also provides managed cloud services.

Managed Cloud services such as Backup-as-a-Service enable IT leaders to move or add to their Digital Infrastructure; all of these services are certified to ISO27001:2013.

The company was founded in November 2000 by Ed Morton, in 2015 Ed was named as SVC Individual of the Year.

Axess Systems is a Citrix Gold Solution Advisor, A Dell EMC Gold Partner, A Veeam Silver Partner, and Microsoft Partner.

How it started…


You can trace the decision behind why Axess Systems became a virtualisation and Digital Infrastructure specialist to a wet Thursday lunchtime, in November 2000.

Already working in the IT Industry for a distributor, Ed Morton (founder of Axess Systems), was seeing IT leaders think differently about how they delivered their applications to users.

Traditionally Citrix was used for remote access, but IT leaders saw the benefits and savings by delivering applications centrally.

At that time numerous companies were trying to establish themselves in this area, but they were trying to add these specialist skills on to their existing general IT business.

This meant the end users were not getting the benefits they expected and started approaching the distributor where Ed worked for guidance.

Fed up with clients getting poor advice and service
After a particularly colourful account from one end user, the decision was made.

And Axess Systems was born.

Grabbing an A4 pad, Ed set about over lunch to map out what was needed to make a specialist reseller work.

While the A4 pad was lost long ago, these aims and values have remained true today, as they were back then:

– Be a specialist – understand the technology thoroughly.
– Provide value – we can’t always be the cheapest, but we can provide the best overall value.
– Be honest, open and give plain-speaking advice – tell the customer about the disadvantages, not just the advantages
– Deliver great customer service

As the technology has evolved and developed, so have the skills and experiences of Axess Systems.
